Important Design Considerations Before Ordering

While we take great care to ensure your chosen map area and design preferences are followed as closely as possible, please note that slight variations can occur during the printing process. This is a normal part of production and may result in minor shifts or cropping.

To help ensure your final print looks as you envisioned, we recommend the following:

  • Position important details centrally within your chosen map area. This helps reduce the risk of key locations being too close to the edges, where slight trimming may occur.

  • If you’re choosing a map with a silhouette overlay, please keep in mind that the silhouette will be printed on top of the map. Be sure that any significant locations you want clearly visible aren’t placed directly behind the silhouette.

  • Where possible, avoid placing key elements near the outer borders of the map, especially if they are essential to your design.

These small steps can make a big difference in ensuring your personalised map print turns out just right.

If you're unsure, select our artworking option - we will send you a proof before your product goes to print, allowing you to make any minor amends beforehand!

Antique Maps

We've never met anyone who doesn't love old maps, which is why we only use antique maps printed on our products. Their unique charm and history are part of who we are and is the foundation of all our products. Because of their age, many were drawn in the 19th Century, not all of the place names or locations we expect to see on modern day maps will be marked.

The original old maps have been digitally scanned and pieced together to cover the UK so you may find in places there are map joins or discolouration - in most cases this simply adds to the charm.

Our international maps showing countries across the world are taken from antique atlases. You will be able to zoom in on your area of interest and resize the map to fit a product of your choice. We suggest that you avoid including the borders of the pages on your product as they could detract from the beauty of the finished product. Be careful when zooming in too close, the original atlas has been scanned at a high quality but zooming in too far could mean the map is blurred or pixelated.
